Companion

Slowly the mist angels rising to fill up the dusk
Cars shatter silences shower the roadsides with dust
Their echoes fade out ancient voices we’ve started to trust
We kiss in the whistling wind grasses whisper with lust

We’ll stand at the edges and wish we could understand
Firefly language and moth flutter moon dances
All on the wake of the wind rippled water and sand.

Stars started blooming above hillsides haunted with trees
Their colors shine brilliant and vast between astronaut seas
The warmth that we feel burns a long way through regions that freeze
Though wanderlust tempts us we know well that earthbound is free

But we will be travelers the highway I span
Is my lifeline that merges with lines of your hands
Hours and days we have spent here are written on folds of this land
