This picture shows a forest that I photographed with my flash
And it turned everything bright white
I guess things were blinding there people cut the forests down
And the cruel sun filled up spaces with its light

This picture shows a molehill that I made out of a mountain
It seemed so big to me yesterday
When all that mist hung on the ridge like my hand upon your shoulder
And it finally came down as rain

Chorus:

Sometimes running in my dreams I feel the same familiar scenes
turn from three-D into two…
The reality of the past must fade, we turn away from yesterday
but are feelings still strong, between me and you?

Here’s one of me; it’s not well focused
but the idea is there
I played my fiddle to you on a bus across the border out of tune
But at the time we didn’t care

Here’s one of you, it’s blurred ‘cause I was laughing
When I tried to take the shot
I guess I didn’t capture you quite the way I’d wanted to
But I wouldn’t want to make you what you’re not…

Chorus

So I hope you like these photos that I’ve sent you with this note
I finally got the cash to have these made
Hope you enjoy remembering—maybe you could send one too—one of us together
Where we’re singing in the shade….
Yeah we’re singing in the shade.
